Τον Ιούνιο του 1962, το Cosmopolitan ανέθεσε στον φωτογράφο Τζορτζ Μπάρις να απαθανατίσει τη Μέριλιν Μονρόε γύρω από το Λος Άντζελες.
Ο φωτογράφος κατά τη διάρκεια αρκετών εβδομάδων φωτογράφιζε στιγμές της Μέριλιν Μονρόε σε στιγμές της καθημερινότητας της. Τελικά το υλικό που προέκυψε ήταν 150 φωτογραφίες.
Πέρασαν 55 χρόνια ώστε να δουν το φως της δημοσιότητας χάρη σε μια δημοπρασία στο Paddle8 που συγκέντρωσε άλλα 70 κομμάτια αναμνηστικών της γνωστής ηθοποιού συμπεριλαμβανομένης ακόμη και της ομαδικής φωτογραφίας του σχολείου της στο δημοτικό.
